Research/Private Study

May I download or print single copies of parts of the electronic resource for my own UBC-related research or private study?

Yes

An Authorized User can print single copies and electronically save parts of the electronic resource for their personal UBC-related research or private study provided they do not:

  1. use software such as webcrawlers or other automated means to systematically make copies of extracts of the electronic resource for any purpose;
  2. mount, post or distribute any part of the electronic resource on any unsecured electronic network; or
  3. contravene any of the other general restrictions enumerated at the bottom of this page.

 

Class Handouts

May I distribute multiple print copies of parts of the electronic resource for use by UBC students?

If you would like to find out whether parts of this electronic resource can be included in classroom handouts, please contact us at lib-license@interchange.ubc.ca, and we will obtain the information from the publisher as quickly as possible.

Print Course Packs

May I incorporate a portion of the electronic resource into a print course pack for use by UBC students?

Yes

Parts of the electronic resource may be incorporated in course packs, which are printed compilations of material assembled by UBC for use by UBC students in a particular course of instruction at UBC. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title and author of the extract, title and author of the work, and the Publisher. 

Learning Management Systems

May I post a copy of portions of the electronic resource on a learning management system (e.g. Connect, Vista, MEDICOL)?

Yes

Access to parts of the electronic resource may be provided to UBC students through a learning management system (e.g. Connect, Vista, MEDICOL) in connection with a specific UBC course of instruction.  Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title and author of the extract, title and author of the work, and the Publisher. Copies of such items shall be removed and deleted when they are no longer used for such purpose.

 

For streamed audio and video, posting a copy means embedding the content using the provided link/code.

e-Reserves

May I post a copy of portions of the the electronic resource in an electronic library course reserves system?

Yes

You may include material from this resource in e-reserves, which are library-mediated electronic copies of articles stored on a secure network for use by students in connection with a specific class. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title and author of the extract, title and author of the work, and the Publisher. Copies of such items shall be deleted when they are no longer used for such purpose.

 

For streamed audio and video, posting a copy means embedding the content using the provided link/code.

Images

May I incorporate images in classroom materials to be distributed to UBC students?

If you would like to find out whether images from this electronic resource may be provided UBC students in classroom materials, please contact us at lib-license@interchange.ubc.ca, and we will obtain the information from the publisher as quickly as possible.

Persistent URLs

May I create a persistent URL (electronic link) to an individual item contained in the electronic resource?

Yes

Access to individual items contained in the electronic resource may be provided to UBC students through a persistent URL (electronic link).

For Libraries

Is ILL allowed?

No

The license for this electronic resource does not allow interlibrary loans.
