For UBC Library users

Research/Private Study	Yes	May I download or print a copy of the material(s) for UBC-related research or my own private study?
Class Handouts	Yes	May I distribute or incorporate multiple print copies of the material(s) into class handouts distributed to students in a UBC course?
Print Course Packs	Yes	May I incorporate a copy of the material(s) into a print course pack for use by students in a UBC course?
Learning Management Systems	Yes	May I upload an electronic copy of the materials(s) on a learning management system (e.g. Connect, Vista, MEDICOL) for a UBC course or research?
e-Reserves	Yes	May I upload an electronic copy of the materials(s) on a library course reserves system?
Images	Yes	May I incorporate graphs, charts, tables, images and other graphics embedded in the materials(s) in instructional slides and handouts for use in the classroom?
Persistent URLs	Yes	May I post a persistent URL (electronic link) to the material(s)?
Text and Data Mining	Ask	Please contact us here if you have questions about text mining permissions.
Scholarly Publishing	Yes	Figures, tables, and insubstantial amounts of the licensed materials may be included in works published by UBC authors, but never for commercial purposes.
Scholarly Sharing	Yes	Transmit to a third-party colleague in hard copy or electronically, minimal, insubstantial amounts of the licensed materials for personal use or scholarly, educational, or scientific research or professional use but in no case for re-sale or any commercial purposes.
Artificial Intelligence	Ask	May I use an Artificial Intelligence tool for the purposes of educational and research purposes? Contact us here for more information.

GENERAL RESTRICTIONS

You may not, under any circumstance, do any of the following:

Use any part of the electronic resource for a commercial purpose.
Use software such as webcrawlers or other automated means to systematically make copies of extracts of the electronic resource for any purpose.
Mount, post, upload or input any part of a licensed electronic resource on third party Artificial Intelligence platforms, such as ChatGPT.
Mount, post or distribute any part of the electronic resource on unsecured electronic networks, such as electronic bulletin boards, news groups and web sites. For clarification, posting to e-reserves or to a learning management system (e.g. Connect, Vista, MEDICOL) may be allowed by the license. Check specific license permissions for further information.
Obscure or alter any copyright or other notices appearing in the electronic resource
Publish, distribute or make available any portion of the electronic resource except as detailed in the specific license permissions or as permitted by the Fair Dealing provisions of the Canadian Copyright Act.
